2TwitMe 1.3

It’s done when it’s done and now it is done: 2TwitMe 1.3
Still the best Twitter client for Palm OS comes now with a ton of new cool features and enhancements. The first one: The Timeline is much more readable than ever before. You even get avatar pics. Here is the list of changes (still have in mind that I usually forget about the stuff I fixed):

1.3

* bigger timeline display (use lowres font)
* mark new tweets
* optional: keep current tweet on manual update
* tweet list position saved on app close
* optional: avatar images in tweet list
* hide pwd in account settings
* thumb-enabled GUI
* support of yfrog.com in preview
* search the tweet list
* handle first link in message view using space key
* better text input windows for permanent tag, search and url trim
* added is.gd as url trim service
* refresh avatar pics on user page (>>)
* Conversation display from message view

And now, hurry up and download and try it. You’re always welcome to leave a short message (on twitter for example, I follow the 2TwitMe tag) about your experiences.

Download: 2TwitMe.prc 1.3  2TwitMe.prc 1.3 (99,7 KiB, 2.839 hits)

Stay cool,
Henk

Recording audio on a Pré

Well. just before I come with a 1.3 release of 2TwitMe (which makes it also one of the best Twitter clients even on a Pré) I found a way to record audio on the Pré. It’s not a way you would do every day, but maybe on could wrap it into a nice UI:

* install the terminal app from the precentral.net
* open the terminal and enter parec test.pcm
* say whatever you want
* exit recording using sym+c
* play the file with pacat test.pcm

Palm User Meeting 2009 in Hannover

Yesterday was the PUM 2009 in Hannover, Germany. Torsten started with an introduction into WebOS from a user’s view. After that, we had an interesting live-video chat with Dion Almaer and Ben Galbraith from Palm. Afterwards, there was a small break for food, drinks and head-to-head chats. After the break I made a talk about developing for WebOS and presented some of the concepts (Services, Ajax-Requests, Databases, HTML5-Canvas) based on a fresh example application. The example application is a kind of GPS tracker with track view for WebOS and will be developed into a full application during the next weeks. It’s called MapTools atm.

As last talk, Jonas presented Homebrew on a Pré and the possibilities and risks.

The evening ended with a raffle where actually I won another Palm Pré which I now will give to my girlfriend. See some links and further infos after the break:

List of mobile apps for the Palm Pré

Since a week I have my own Palm Pré. The amount of available apps is still limited (even if I try to increase it too). Therefore it would be quite interesting to collect websites and web-apps which work well on the Palm Pré. The websites and apps are usually made with the iPhone in mind but the similarity of the browsers make quite a few also working well with the Palm Pré and other WebOS devices.

Tim Carroll from PalmInfoCenter just published a review of the upcoming 2TwitMe release (v 1.2). You can read it in full here. There is also a Chinese review which you can find here. (I can’t read Chinese but thanks to medigi8 for the link.)

At the moment, I fix the last couple of known bugs and will release 1.2 in a couple of days. Stay tuned!

BTW: Wanna check out my first Web OS application? Look here for its homepage.

How-To use 2TrackMe, Part 1

You have 5 ways to set the current position in 2TMe: use your GPS device and select ‘Connect to GPS’, tap’n’hold on screen and select “Position”, use “Guess Position” from the menu: on a Centro find the position of your current cell tower, search for any place registered in OpenStreetMap, enter coordinates directly.

From your current position you can access map data in different zoom levels, search for Geocaches in your region, get a list of Wikipedia entries around you or the weather forecast without fiddling around with city codes
